I taught school in Columbus and Savannah, GA and in Jacksonville, FL for 25 years. Tried sitting on the porch for a year, but decided I needed to do something more constructive than rock. My family has lived in this area since 1972, but my husband Bob and I spent the 1st 12 years in Jacksonville, 3 years in Waycross, Ga., and the last 16 years in NE Kentucky. My husband and I moved from Hollywood (FL) to Welaka in 1986. At first it was a culture shock, but we absolutely love it now. We've spent many days fishing the St. Johns River and I am very familiar with the Welaka area. We also enjoy salt water fishing when we get the chance to spend time at our plpace in Steinhatchee.

We owned and operated Allen Lures, a fishing lure manufacturing company, until 2005. I joined Habitat for Humanity, as a volunteer, when they started the women's build. It has been great working with friends and the home owners building these homes. I also enjoy home improvement projects.
